Statement of Purpose

The Mandatory Standards Committee is a sub-committee of the Standards Steering Committee ("SSC"), established to define the minimum mandatory standards to which customers must adhere to participate in the network.

Note: Currently manufacturers are subject to financial penalties as defined in the Manufacturer’s ESG Standards Adherence Document.

Membership

Membership is comprised of members from the SSC as selected by the Chair on an ad hoc basis as required.

Meetings

The Mandatory Standards Committee meets on an ad hoc basis as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Define the minimum mandatory standards to which customers must adhere to participate in the network by:
  
  
  • identifying standards in new Helpfile releases that should be mandatory from implementation date; and
    
    
  • on an ongoing basis, reviewing the Helpfile to systematically improve the level of minimum mandatory standards for the benefit of all customers.
    
    
• Publish and maintain the minimum mandatory standards in the ESG Standards Adherence Document.
  
  
• Assist the Corporation in developing methods to audit adherence to the minimum mandatory standards.
  
  
• Recommend to the Standards Steering Committee penalties for minimum mandatory standards non-adherence.
  
  
• Provide a forum in which customer questions and concerns can be addressed and communicated.
  
  
• Establish, as circumstances dictate, working groups and their terms of reference.
  
  
• Review and approve the reports or recommendations of the working groups.
  
  

Minutes

The Corporation will provide a person to record the Mandatory Standards Committee's deliberations in appropriate minute format. The minutes will be distributed to the members within six (6) days following the meeting and to the SSC prior to its next scheduled meeting.
