Stuart Reynolds and David Chan

FundSERV vice president of customer relations, Stuart Reynolds, interviews David Chan, president of Just Systems (The Solution People) Inc. and managing director of The Investment Administration Solution Inc.

See the videotaped version!

Reynolds: How would you describe the service that you've received from FundSERV?
-
Chan: I would say using the "E" word, as in excellent, is an understatement. We have received a lot of support over the years in terms of getting us on-stream, getting us to work with your protocols and the framework that you have already developed to ensure quality assurance; and the general delivery of the network service to the new members.
-
Reynolds: Perhaps you can give me some examples of particular ways in which we have worked together to support your business.
-
Chan: Recently, we have been looking to put our clients on FUNDcom. So we're getting a lot of support and guidance for that.
-
Reynolds: What sort of benefits would your customers see from having access to FUNDcom?
-
Chan: They will have instantaneous access to information without having to wait for phone calls. In our own situation, we intend to make it even more readily available to them so that they can look at trade documentation, the works.
-
Reynolds: And what about FUNDportal? Do you see benefits for your customers with that?
-
Chan: Definitely, because FUNDcom is discretionary at the dealer's level as far as advisor access is concerned, whereas FUNDportal is specifically designed for the advisor to access directly. We want to empower our clients, so that they can have full access to the complete information that we have on the system.
-
Reynolds: The name of the game is reducing costs, saving time, reducing risk. Much of that's done through automation. Do you have plans for further automation in your business?
-
Chan: The simple answer is "yes", that we will stay close to all the FundSERV standards. After all, it's the industry standard. On the other hand, we will push some of the new technology as much as possible. For instance, we already have a RIM (Research in Motion Ltd., producer of Blackberry wireless communication devices) interface, so our clients can have instantaneous notice of trade activities. And then from their Blackberry, they can log in to our server and look at information.
-
Reynolds: And finally, could you give me some perspective on your goals and the future of Just Systems, IAS, and your relationship with FundSERV?
-
Chan: Our goal is very simple: to make our companies desirable to new players, and to our existing clients. As far as the relationship with FundSERV is concerned, it has always been an excellent one and we'd like to continue that. And there's no reason we would not expect that to happen.
-
Reynolds: Well, David, it's a pleasure working with you, and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with your organization.
